Esther
The theme of intercession, exemplified by Esther’s courage, takes on an eternal weight when viewed through the reality of a "great chasm" that cannot be crossed once this life ends. While Luke 16:26-31 (the concluding verses of that chapter) emphasizes the finality of judgment and the desperate need for the living to heed the warnings of Scripture, Ezekiel 33:11 reveals the compassionate heart of a God who takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked but desires that they turn and live. This creates a powerful call to action for the believer: we are often placed in "such a time as this" to be the messengers and intercessors for those who do not yet see the gravity of their spiritual state. Just as Esther stood in the gap for her people, we are reminded that our witness is a matter of life and death, fueled by a God who actively seeks the restoration of the lost rather than their destruction.
